The Department of Land and Survey (DLS) has concluded the fourth phase of the project to enhance cadastral system in Jordan, which is being implemented as a twinning project with the EU, Poland and Sweden. The department said in a statement e-mailed to The Jordan Times that the project seeks to achieve digital linking between registers and maps, information security and accurate land evaluation. At a meeting for the project’s steering committee, DLS Director General Nidal Saqarat said linking registers and maps electronically will be available at the department’s branches across the Kingdom as an experimental phase will be launched at DLS branches of eastern Amman and Zarqa within a month. according to the statement, the department seeks through the project to develop a sustainable land management system in Jordan based on the Geographical Information System that provides complete, accurate, up to date and precise land information. The plan also seeks to enhance the technical and administrative capacities of the department in the field of cadastre and land administration, the statement said
